Guaranteed ... What do I mean by that?
My projects are built to last the full service life of the materials and components that went into them.
My guiding principles are as follows:
- All building codes are observed.
- Everything should be plum, level, and secure.
- There is no such thing as maintenance free.
- When repairing a system, all factors leading to system failure must be clearly understood before I can call the repair complete. Wear and tear is usually not a complete answer. “Oh well, it’s old; It probably needs replacing”—Again, not an answer.
- Every home has its trouble spots. Every trouble spot has a solution—It remains to the homeowner to thoroughly complete the home’s design wherever practical.
- Wood, properly installed and treated, should never rot. Windows and walls should never leak. All surfaces should feel stable and secure at all points, with no visible or obvious cracks or gaps.
- At extra cost, I will paint, as needed, anything that I repair or replace, so as to provide a single point of call, and a complete solution, for the job. All paint jobs begin with primer, provide full color saturation (2 coats), and are free of drips, sags, and streaks.
- All installed components, such as faucets, toilets, and garbage disposals; vents and fans and the like; should last at least 10 years, but in many cases 20 – 30 years. Every component has a normal service life—my goal is always to exceed that. Some components are just bad designs and materials. Other times, it’s the installation that’s at fault. I promise to know the difference, and I promise to know that the components I select are well-designed and reliable.
- Finally, getting it done is never as important as getting it right.
I back my guarantee by promising to fix anything that was not originally installed to your satisfaction for 1 year from the date of service.
Electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs are guaranteed for 10 years in most cases. When necessary, I will advise you of any factors that could possibly lead to premature failure at the time of service.
